I like Robert Reich but he is often very partisan which clouds his vision. In his recent article he goes to a tired old story line around race and people running away from the poor for describing Detroit’s problems.
Trade policy, NAFTA, and most favored nation trading status with China are two of the major pillars of why Detroit and Industrial America has been devastated plain and simple. These trade policies have thrust the working class of America into global competition with emerging economies. If the United States did not lower it’s tariff’s the American working people would be in much better shape today.

Aristotle and Chrematistics
In a nutshell, if you just make money by gaming the system or printing money with out adding instrinsic value to the economy your gonna have economic problems.
Aristotle established the fundamental difference between economics and chrematistics. The accumulation of money itself is an unnatural activity that dehumanizes those who practice it. Like Plato, he condemns the accumulation of wealth. Trade exchanges money for goods and usury creates money from money. The merchant does not produce anything: both are reprehensible from the standpoint of philosophical ethics.
According to Aristotle, the “necessary” chrematistic economy is licit if the sale of goods is made directly between the producer and buyer at the right price; it does not generate a value-added product. By contrast, it is illicit if the producer purchases for resale to consumers for a higher price, generating added value. The money must be only a medium of exchange and measure of value. Central Bank Easy Credit Flows Into US Stock Market.
US Federal Reserve trying to re inflate assets through easy credit and low interest rates which in turn push the stock market higher via a variety of mechanisms, such as company’s buying their own shares with low credit and then retiring the stock.
This monetary driven stock market although a welcome thing as it keeps the economy moving, also has the effect of minimizing the invisible hand of the free market, and misallocating capital. The bubble being created by this monetary policy is not big enough to create escape velocity from the forces of deflation and contraction over the long haul . Eventually other policy measures will have to be instituted.
Intrinsic Value vs Artifical Market Value.
Intrinsic Value vs Artificial Market Value.
Understanding the real value of something it’s Intrinsic value of something vs an artificial central bank determined value of something can be a valid perspective for trying to predict long term trends in the economy.
Only in San Francisco
In San Francisco there is a set of “hip” people who want to get rid of cars and add more bicycles to the transportation mix. Whole blocks of parking are disappearing to accommodate bike lanes.
Many car lanes are also disappearing to make way for bike lanes.
In China, the average people want to do away with their bicycle and get a car.
Obviously two different world views. Those people in China who have had bikes their whole life but no car , want to make life easier by obtaining a car and those who have access to cars in the United States want to make a political statement about many things but I am guessing the political statement conceptually revolves around global warming . After a few years of riding the bikes I suspect many of these American people will return to riding cars and live in the suburbs as they get older.
Poem of Survival
First of all you have to have your physical machine running which is your body and all the parts that go with that, then you have to incorporate prayer to God.
This is your defense against all the things that can go wrong in this immense Universe and allow you be led and navigated over this huge terrain that is the Universe.
The prayer to God and conversations with God give one the resiliency one needs to get up after the many hard blows life can deliver.
You need a good defense. You have to fortify your perimeter against your foe, but you must go on patrol often and go on the offense to keep your enemy off balance, and not allow your foe to concentrate his energy(forces) in a way that can overcome your defensive perimeter.
Know what your objectives are be flexible and think outside the box.
Understand where you are and what you want to get done with the tools and environment you are operating in.
PARADIGM SHIFT-GUILLERMO RIGONDEAUX
Athlete boxer par excellence, 2 time Olympic Gold Medalist, 2 time belt holder at 122 pounds in professional boxing putting on a boxing clinic defeating Nonito Donaire 2012 fighter of the year.
The fight was held in Manhattan New York at the world famous Radio City Music Hall.
Rigondeaux was too fast and too skilled for Donaire in a fight that I scored 117-111 for the Rigondeaux.
I always felt that Donaire was a good fighter but always carefully matched against opponents that were usually to old or too underpowered to give Donaire a good fight. These type of fighters always allowed Donaire to show his offense and punching power in the best light and made Donaire highly marketable.
