Just an industrial street in San Francisco.
Bernard Hopkins and Sergey Kovalev fought a classic battle on November 8, 2014.
In the fight we found out a lot of things in Sergey Kovalev’s fight with Bernard Hopkins.
We found out that Kovalev is a skilled boxer, who could work at a measured pace, take a decent punch , has defense , is able to mentally compete at the highest level, is a tremendous athlete who is able to go 12 rounds .
We saw that Kovalev’s punches lost some snap on them in rounds 9-12 but still had plenty of pop on them.
This is going to be a good fight, whether it is a wipe out or competitive affair. If it is a wipe out it will answer a lot of questions about the Mythical Gennady Golovkin(GGG)who is a huge fan favorite on boxing message boards but has never really fought top flight competition.
In Daniel Geale, Golovkin will fight his first real MiddleWeight challenge after a 5 year undefeated run.
I will probably take some time out tonight from cab driving to come home and watch this fight.
Here is a cool HBO promo video for the fight.
On the upside with the internet a person can communicate and express their ideas to a large audience in a rapid way, on the other hand it limits human communication to a digital format that lacks much of the nuance that face to face interactions have and exacerbates loneliness as humans communicate through plastic ,electricity, and metal in a 2 dimensional format
Ginsberg’s vision of a historic movement that would transform human consciousness struck a responsive chord in Leary. “We were thinking far-out history thoughts at Harvard, ” the LSD doctor recalled, “believing that it was time (after shallow and nostalgic fifties) for far-out visions, knowing that America had run out of philosophy, that a new empirical, tangible metaphysics was desperately needed, knowing in our hearts that the old mechanical myths had died at Hiroshima, that the past was over, and that politics could not fill the spiritual vacuum.” Leary felt that the limited vision of reality prevailing in modern society was partly attributable to the dominant drugs, alcohol and coffee. Change the drugs and a change of heart would naturally follow: “Politics’, religion, economics, social structure based on shared states of consciousness. The cause of social conflict is usually neurological. The cure is biochemical.”(Page 79 book Acid Dreams- Martin Lee)
I eagerly look forward to this fight.

A couple of good links to the current situation in the Bay Area.

Most of the tech stocks in the Bay Area are way over valued. Some are good companies but extremely overvalued and many out right garbage.
What I believed happened was the Federal Reserve created tremendous liquidity with it’s QE (Quantitive Easing) policies. The Fed wanted to create a bubble and re inflate the economy and the stock market was it’s vehicle for this . To do this it could not use stocks like consumer cyclical aka Johnson and Johnson it needed stocks or the money found stocks that could sustain outrageous PE’s (price to earning ratios).
Hence the tech stocks. As far as public policy this was an ok thing, kept economy flowing, kept smart kids working and engaged with system that could be used for bigger things in the future. Now the winds of change seem to be blowing at the Fed as it is making sounds of how it wants to help the economy with a possible paring back of support, and with a new kind of thrust in the direction the elite want the economy to take especially with an array of geo strategic challenges in offing and the need to keep the dollar as the reserve currency a new tact seems to be in wind.
Hail a cab.
Waiting for the NASDAQ to got down .Every week day I wake up and see how the NASDAQ and the 10 year bond are doing. I figure if the NASDAQ goes down, by cost of living in my tech rich region will not increase. The 10 year bond part of the equation although not empirical is that I feel that if interest rates rise stock market will go down. It is also indicative of the Federal Reserve not maintaining it’s low interest rate policy.
